Parquet Floor Restoration in Kew
We recently completed a full parquet floor restoration in Kew at St Luke’s House Educational Centre, just a five-minute walk from our showroom.
Although the floor condition was generally pretty good, there were a few areas where we needed to replace some loose blocks in the existing floor. Our stock parquet is unfinished so we were able to use these knowing the floor will match by the time it had been completely sanded and varnished.
After repairing a few other splintered pieces we were able to begin the full sanding process using our Laglel Hummel, Lagler Trio and Lagler Flip Edgers to complete the work. We used the belt sander to do the bulk of the hard graft, taking out all the imperfections in the floor. Our three-disc machine then takes the limelight, helping us achieve the smoothest finish ready for varnishing, while the edger helps us get into the nooks and crannies in the corner of the room.
Once the floor has been sanded we combine the sawdust from the floor with Jenkins Resin Gap Filler to ensure there are no unsightly gaps left in the floor.
The final stage saw us varnish the floor with Bona Traffic HD in a Silk Matt sheen. We love using this product as it offers the ultimate durability with an extremely quick drying time – meaning the floor can go back into full use after just 12 hours. This is perfect for a client like St Luke’s, and other public locations, where minimal downtime is important and the highest possible durability is required.
Another reason for our preference of the Bona range of products is that they have a strong belief in sustainability and social responsibility. The Bona Traffic HD has low emissions and odour, and is EC1RPLUS approved – which is the industry’s best possible assurance against indoor air pollution for a high level of health protection and environmental compatibility.
